Your satisfaction with the pegs is
guaranteed; period.
I searched for a long time for lightweight
machine tuners for my Flamenco guitars,
and finally found the answer in these
Planetary Pegs. They are made by the
inventor, Chuck Herin of Pegheds Inc.,
in his shop in South Carolina. The name
refers to the internal gearing system,
which is known as “planetary” because
little gears orbit like planets around the
drive shaft gear. I use them in all my
Flamencos, and offer them as an option
on my classics.
I have been selling the pegs for Chuck
for the last five years, and the line has
expanded to 18 different sizes and styles.
They are being used in an amazing
variety of instruments. In addition to
nylon and steel string guitars, ukuleles,
and 5 string banjos, they are being used
in hurdy-gurdies, dulcimers, Mexican
jarangas, and Turkish Baglamas to name
a few.
The short summary of why I like them:
~ They tune easily and hold their settings
just like a machine head.
~ They look cool ~ very traditional.
~ Installation is the easiest by far of any
machine tuner.
~ They are light weight, coming in at
about half the weight of the Sloane
machines that I usually use.
~ No maintenance is required.
~ On multi-string instruments they can be
placed anywhere on the head that is
convenient.
This is the #945B guitar peg
All dots are now individually polished to a
high luster, which makes a great
improvement in their appearance. This more
than doubles the amount of time involved, so
the price for inlay is now $5 per peg.
